photographs

these are the photographs i have taken for my media project -

The use of props in my photos are very important. they show the artist at work on the decs. The location I have chosen is at a club, live.

photographs - research

Here are photos of famous dubstep artists. This will help me to take a photo of my own for my project.

here is a photo of Skream DJ'ing. Skream is a famous dubstep artist and is considered one of the best.

Here are caspa and rusko, who are also two big names in dubstep

A photo of Borgore, dubstep Dj.

These photos have helped me grasp what kind of photos i should be taking for my project and i think now i am ready to start producing my project.

Feature articles

The feature article is the main article in a magazine. It has to be able to grab the readers attention and be read easily. The headings have to lay out what the story is about, whether it be an interview or an article on the musician. The feature article should promote something new about the musician e.g new tour dates, album etc.

contents pages

contents pages of music magazines should be bright and eye-catching making the reader to carry on reading. Also, the pages should be dominated by pictures. Here are some examples of music contents pages -

here we can see that there is a big image which dominates the page and a traditional layout of text.

this contents page uses bright colours to attract the reader and also uses a simple lay out of the page making it easy to read.

research of magazine covers

These are the examples that follow the same genre as my music magazine. This genre is niche, targeted at a small variety of individuals. As you can see on these covers, these magazines miz into different genres as we can see dubstep, grime, and reggae. This expands the target audience making it more optional. As i am creating a Dubstep magazine my front cover may not follow the traditional layouts seen in other covers allowing my cover to stand out from other covers.

RESEARCH

Grass:
I will define my target audience by using the grass method:
Gender - the gender of my magazine is mainly male, this is because the music type is very moody and samples strong beats.
Race - my magazine is targeted at any race.
Age - As my target audience is a niche audience targeting a small variety of people, the target age is very varied.
Socio-economic status - most likely to be group E or D mainly targeted at teenagers
